Founder Janet Williams began Babygrowz in 2006 after noticing a large gap in the parent and baby activity market. With her many years experience as a Nursery Nurse, Nanny, School Nurse and Neonatal Nurse Janet felt passionately that parents are a child’s first and best teacher and realised that there was a demand for classes that helped parents gain Parentcraft skills as well as learn how to help and support their child’s development from conception and beyond..
Major changes in our society have led to the decline of the extended family and this coupled with the need for both parents to be wage earners has meant that parents are having babies later in life, with little or no previous experience and little or no local support system. Family are often spread across the country or even the world and friends are usually work based. The lack of this support system, as well as meaning new parents often don’t have those basic but important Parentcraft skills also means that they can be left feeling alone and unsupported at what should be a happy time. Hence Babygrowz® was formed to provide that support through education and socialising.
The Babygrowz® classes are unique in several ways: first they are the only baby activity classes to cover the important age range from pre birth to 3 years, secondly they are the only activity classes that offer benefits for both mom and baby together and finally the classes themselves are only a minor part of the programme and the real benefits come when the whole family follow the programme at home having fun and forming a lasting bond.
