Research has shown that the quality of time spent with your child is more important to their development than the quantity. It has also shown that children whose parents are actively involved in their development do proportionately better at school. So,Babygrowz Developmental Play classes are an investment in your child's future! The classes use a combination of activities such as singing, dancing, finger games, signing and much more to show you how to give your child a full developmental workout. We do not use lots of big expensive equipment-it is just you, your baby and some basic toys you can use at home. And while each class is different you will not find loads of new things each session. While we as adults regularly seek new experiences, babies want and need repetition so this is an important part of our programme. It is through repetition that we all learn-think of how you learnt those dreaded times-tables at school-by repeating them! So, more repetition means stronger neural connections leading to better skills. which in turn means the more you repeat the games at home the more your child will benefit.Benefits for babyYour child's education begins at school, right. WRONG! Learning is a lifelong process and one that begins virtually at birth. Babies have a natural instinct to interact and learn and a brain that is sponge like in the amount of information it can absorb. There have been many studies that have shown the first few years of life are the optimum age to introduce important skills.
All babies are born with a set of primitive reflexes that help them survive those first weeks of life but they then need to be gradually replaced by the Adult Responses. This process happens naturally but can be affected by many everyday events. It is retention of these reflexes that has been shown to lead to developmental problems later in life-sometimes not noticeable until they start school. As your child's first-and best-teacher you are ideally placed to ensure those reflexes are worked out as they should be and so get that education off to a good start-and all you have to do is ......PLAY!
The programme ensures basic skills such as listening, turn taking and socialising are learnt alongside early language, literacy and movement skills, in a relaxed non-pressurised setting. You can be confident that the reflexes are replaced as you guide your child's development so they go through the correct developmental stages at the correct time. The play course content links into the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines so ensuring that your child has already reached many of these by the time they start nursery/pre-school.Benefits for youAt the same time as your baby gains so do you. You will form a bond with your child that will last a lifetime, you will learn to communicate with and understand your child before he can talk, so reducing frustrations and temper tantrum-on both sides- and you will learn about and understand your baby’s unique development. All this allows you to be confident you are doing the right thing for your child. Each week there is also coffee time allowing you to relax chat with other like minded moms, forge new friendships and gain important peer group support and help.
Who will benefit? Every baby and parent will learn and benefit from our classes but especially if you had:
- a difficult birth,
- a caesarian section,

- or you would like to Home Educate your child
When can I join? Classes are run in 6 week courses and in age specific groups. You simply join the appropriate age group then work through from one stage to then next then up through the age groups, as your baby develops. The more courses you attend the more you both benefit.
