- Read reviews of new baby story books
- Share your own favourite books
- Win books
- Read reviews of Parenting and Pregnancy books
With the advent of E-readers there is a fear that reading an actual book will become a lost skill, but nothing can quite compare to the amazing feeling of your little one snuggling in to you as you settle down together to read a favourite story-bonds are built and memories are made through reading books.
But for this week let’s start with a lovely poem which, I think, says it all:
Booknook by Joyce Dunbar
Come,
Find a nook,
Snuggle up
With me
And a book.
We will gaze and ponder
Dream and wonder
At other lives
In distant times
And faraway places,
'Tell me again,' you will say,
'Just one more,'
And I will.
Like so,
Here, right now,
From the great,
Gi-normous,
Story store,
You, me,
A nook,
And the
Mind-widening,
Heart-opening,
Eye-shining,
Skin-prickling,
Tummy-tingling
Face-changing
Oh, so potent
Page-turning
Magic,
Of a book
Booknook, which comes courtesy of, and was created specially for, Bookbite, is a short poem for you to enjoy reading aloud with a child. It is dedicated to Lara Jones, the award-winning illustrator of I Want a Mini Tiger and the Poppy Cat series. Sadly, Lara died in March 2010, aged 34.
